A Danish sunshine story

Since 2012, Inwido’s Danish subsidiary Outline Vinduer has been cooperating with the Municipality of Vesthimmerland in a successful labour market project. Internship opportunities are provided for people outside the labour market, often leading to permanent employment with Outline. The company is accepting its social responsibility, opening up opportunities for vocational training, internships and hopefully employment for those prepared to take on new challenges.

Within Outline Windows, Outline Plus is the department welcoming people who, for various reasons, remain outside the labour market. They include young people, people who have recently arrived in Denmark and people who have been absent due to illness for a long time. In early 2019, some 30 people are included, gaining an opportunity to permanently enter the labour market through the project.

New opportunities and challenges for the eager

The internships are tailored for each participant, taking into account their specific circumstances. It is nonetheless important to impose demands on the trainees with regard to working alongside others, for example, or arriving on time and being prepared to develop as an employee.

“At Outline, we are keen to accept our social responsibility,” says Jens Sørensen, Managing Director of Outline. “It is very much about teaching the trainees how to cope with a job in the best way possible. We are really proud of the project and, to date, the collaboration with the municipality has been highly positive and successful. Together, we have given many people a new chance to enter working life. And we will continue with that.”

For Outline, the project has also had positive consequences by offering the business a new route of recruitment. In 2018, a total 20 percent of the company’s new employees joined through the Outline Plus project.

Where local government and business truly succeed

The Municipality of Vesthimmerland also considers the project a success and worthy of further investment.

“Outline Plus is a good example of what we can achieve when local government and business cooperate,” says Lone Lollesgaard, citizen liaison at the Municipality of Vesthimmerland. “The project has been a great success since day one and we look forward to working with Outline to help even more unemployed people enter the labour market.”
