“With Inwido as our owner we will grow stronger and bigger”

In April 2021 Inwido acquired the family owned company Metallityö Välimäki Oy. With the acquisition, Inwido sees opportunities for increased organic growth in the market for steel and aluminum doors, as well as glass facades in Finland. For the sellers, Kimmo and Tommi Välimäki, the vision is now to build an even bigger company. This is their story.

"40 years after our father Jorma started our company we realized we needed an injection of knowledge and resources to take the next step on our growth journey", says Tommi Välimäki who has been running the business with his brother Kimmo since 2002.

Metallityö Välimäki Oy has approximately 45 employees and runs its operations in Nokia. In the daily business Tommi runs sales and marketing and Kimmo is in charge of production. The well-run business has a strong market position, solid finances and great staff

So, one might ask…why did Tommi and Kimmo decide to sell?

"Because we want more for our staff and customers in the future. By teaming up with a strong owner we secure the future of the business and have resources and know-how to make a good company even better", says Kimmo.

"Being a part of the Inwido family and in close collaboration with Inwido’s large business units in Finland we tap into a powerful sales and marketing network and benefit greatly from Inwidos sourcing position", says Tommi.

Selling is a big decision

So after 40 years of family ownership…was it a hard decision to sell Metallityö Välimäki Oy?

"Yes, absolutely. Especially deciding to actually sell was tough. However, when we realized we could become a part of the Inwido Group the feeling turned from anxiety to joy. Inwido is a great home for us and our vision is now very clear. We will continue to work hard to be the best and leading steel and aluminum door business in Finland", says Tommi Välimäki, MD of Metallityö Välimäki Oy.
